Somnath Swabhiman Parv: 108 horsemen in traditional attire will participate in the Shaurya Yatra

The Somnath Mahadev Temple hosted the four-day Somnath Swabhiman Parv to commemorate the historic shrine of Lord Shiva’s 75th anniversary of its founding. On January 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the Somnath Swabhiman Parv festivities at the Somnath Temple. One of the festival’s future attractions is the big Shaurya Yatra, which will take place on January 11, the last day, and feature 108 Gujarat Police Cavalry horsemen dressed in traditional garb.

Together, the horses stand for strength and Somnath for self-respect, evoking a history of valor and sacrifice. Horses and riders from 15 Gujarat Police Cavalry districts have come to Somnath to take part in this Shaurya Yatra. The horsemen had spent the last three days practicing in Somnath under the direction of DIG Shri Rajendrasinh Chudasama. Chants of “Jai Somnath – Har Har Mahadev” filled the air during today’s rehearsal. The four-day celebration began this morning in the temple grounds with a 72-hour “Akhand Omkar Jap.”

Conch shells and traditional “damrus” echoes signaled the beginning of the event. As 2026 marks 1,000 years since the first attack on Somnath occurred in January 1026 AD, Swabhiman Parv honors the temple’s lasting energy. India’s self-respect, resiliency, and restoration are all reflected in the Somnath Mahadev Temple. Somnath rose once more in the face of numerous invasions and continues to stand as a testament to the country’s unshakable pride. In addition to promoting Somnath’s message of self-respect throughout the country, the four-day event will honor India’s cultural confidence, spiritual legacy, and sense of national pride.
