Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, in partnership with Anandaloke Multispeciality Hospital, hosted a one-day cleft orientation and awareness workshop for the state RBSK workers. The workshop held at Hotel Ratnadeep, was attended by the Government of West Bengal representatives and 40 medical officers from the state RBSK department, National Health Mission (NHM) and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers. In recognition of the invaluable contributions of the frontline workers in the community, 100 ASHA workers were felicitated at the event.
Since 2006, Anandaloke Multispeciality Hospital and Smile Train have been working together to improve the lives of children with clefts. The partnership has supported over 4600 free cleft surgeries, and through Smile Train’s comprehensive care support program, Anandaloke Hospital offers nutrition counseling, speech therapy, and orthodontics services in addition to cleft surgeries.
Expressing her thoughts about the event, Mamta Carroll, Senior Vice President and Regional Director, Smile Train Asia, remarked, “I am immensely proud of our initiative in organizing this joint event for awareness creation and felicitation, which will boost the morale of these frontline workers, enabling them to perform even better and further assist their communities.”
