Skill India trains over 1.35 lakh Yoga professionals

In a vibrant celebration of the 10th International Yoga Day, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with its partner organizations, gathered enthusiasts at Kaushal Bhawan, New Delhi, for a dawn yoga camp. The event, themed “Yoga for Self and Society,” highlighted the profound impact of yoga on individual well-being and societal harmony.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary, announced a significant milestone: Skill India has successfully trained and certified more than 1.35 lakh yoga trainers nationwide. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to promoting wellness and professional yoga training across India. Leading the states in yoga trainer certifications are Uttar Pradesh with 31,018 trainers, closely followed by Tamil Nadu at 30,952, and Maharashtra with 26,743. Punjab, Haryana, and Bihar also made substantial contributions to the initiative.

Secretary of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, emphasized the alignment of yoga with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a healthy and harmonious nation. He noted the growing demand for health and wellness professionals, citing the popularity of MSDE’s diverse courses encompassing yoga and fitness training.The theme “Yoga for Self and Society” encapsulates the dual benefits of yoga in fostering personal health and societal unity. As the world marks International Yoga Day on June 21st annually, the ancient practice continues to gain global recognition for promoting holistic well-being and interconnectedness.
