Siliguri’s Papiya Biswas won the 28th State Carrom Championship

Siliguri, November 10: Siliguri’s young carrom player Papia Biswas won the women’s category in the 28th State Carrom Championship held in Siliguri. The five-day tournament began on November 6 and concluded on Sunday at the Jatiya Shakti Sangha and Pathagar Club in Ward No. 05.
The championship saw participants from the age group of 12 to 21 years as well as players up to 50 years of age. A total of 137 contestants took part. Apart from local players from seven districts, members of the Income Tax Department and Life Insurance Corporation of India also participated in the event. The event concluded with the distribution of trophies to the top three winners in each category.
Papiya Biswas won the women’s category by securing the first position. Pradeep Kumar Agrahi of the Income Tax Department won the men’s title in the open category.
