Siliguri, 16th July (Retd.). Siliguri Municipal Corporation Mayor Gautam Deb met the family of martyred army officer Brijesh Thapa on Tuesday. Mayor Deb personally visited his residence in Siliguri and expressed his condolences to the family members.
Captain Brijesh Thapa, a native of Darjeeling, was tragically martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir. The entire Darjeeling district deeply mourns his demise.
Born in Lebong, Captain Thapa also had a habitation in Siliguri. His body will be flown to Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri today via a special plane. On Wednesday, he will be taken to his ancestral home in Lebong, Darjeeling, where he will receive a cremation with state honors.
