Siliguri ISKCON officials anxious about Rath Yatra amid dilapidated road and drain conditions

Siliguri, June 28: Officials of the Siliguri ISKCON temple in Ward No. 40 have expressed their concern over holding the upcoming annual Rath Yatra amid the poor condition of roads and drainage in the area.

It is noteworthy that the annual Rath Yatra will be taken out on July 7 for which preparations are in full swing. However, the roads and drainage in the area have long been in a state of neglect. Local commuters are facing problems due to the smell of sewer and poor condition of the road. Despite informing the ward councilor in this regard, the problem could not be resolved.

At the same time, during the event, many of devotees from India and abroad gather in the temple. However, due to the prevailing situation, devotees will face problems in commuting in the area. This has created concern among the officials of Siliguri ISKCON temple.

In this regard, Namkrishna Das, public relations officer of the ISKCON temple in Siliguri, said that despite repeatedly informing the councilor, there has been no improvement in the infrastructure around the temple. However, Ward Councilor Rajesh Prasad Sha (Munna) has not given any reaction in this matter.
