The 2nd NECDC Senior Women’s Inter-State Tournament will begin on April 7 at the Sikkim Cricket Ground in Mining, Rangpo, and feature top women cricket players from six northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim. The six teams will be split into two groups for the league-cum-knockout event, which is being organized by the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC). Nagaland, Mizoram, and Meghalaya make up Group A, whereas Sikkim, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh make up Group B. On April 10, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, and on April 12, the grand finale will take place.
The Sikkim Cricket Association is holding the esteemed regional event for the first time. Sikkim and Nagaland were proclaimed joint champions at the conclusion of the first edition, which was held in Ri-Bhoi, Meghalaya. Sikkim Cricket Association President Tika Subba spoke on the occasion, saying, “We are honored to host the 2nd edition of the NECDC Senior Women’s Inter-State Tournament.” In addition to fostering a sense of regional unity, this competition advances our shared goal of advancing women’s cricket in the Northeast. On the first day of the event, Nagaland vs. Mizoram will start at 8:30 am, and Sikkim vs. Manipur will follow at 12:30 pm.
