Sikkim CM would support the badminton association and declare a significant increase

A new era for badminton in the Himalayan state has begun with the appointment of Prem Singh Tamang as Chief Patron of the Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS). The news came after the Chief Minister met with BAS members, who were headed by Jacob Khaling, the organization’s president. The association was “honoured and humbled” by the Chief Minister’s choice to support the sport, Khaling said in his expression of gratitude. The BAS has announced a number of high-profile activities that will place Sikkim on the national badminton map as a direct result of the meeting.

The All India Chief Minister Badminton Open Championship, which will take place for the first time this year, is foremost among these. Top athletes from all around the nation are anticipated to attend the esteemed competition. The state will also host the National Open Championship and the 2nd Sikkim Badminton Premier League, establishing Sikkim as a major player in the Indian badminton scene. These competitions seek to promote youth athletic culture in addition to showcasing skill.

The BAS has also revealed plans for inter-school badminton championships for both individual and team competitions in order to guarantee grassroots development. These contests, which will take place around the state, will give young kids a chance to develop their abilities and pursue careers in professional sports. In addition to Rs 10 lakh in direct government assistance, the Chief Minister has enabled yearly sponsorship of Rs 1 crore from the corporate and industrial sectors, providing a significant financial boost. Enhancing facilities, setting up competitions, and giving aspiring athletes technical instruction will all be made possible by this financing.
