Sikkim CM announces significant infrastructure improvements to improve connectivity and tourism

On the last day of the Discover Rabong Cho-Dzo Fest 2025, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang made a number of crucial announcements in an effort to support Sikkim’s connectivity and tourist industry. According to the Chief Minister, the long-awaited railway project that would link Sikkim with Siliguri (Sevok) is expected to be finished by 2027. By improving access to the state, the project will increase economic activity and tourism.

To allow for the unrestricted movement of automobiles throughout the state, the project will improve intra-state connection. Additionally, the current National Highway 10 (NH10) maintenance project is moving along steadily. It is anticipated that the trip between Siliguri and Sikkim will only take two hours once the upgrading is finished. Both local and tourist traffic are likely to benefit from the enhancement since it will make travel simpler and more convenient.

The state government’s overarching plan to raise Sikkim’s standing as a travel destination and raise the living standards of its people includes these infrastructure projects. The Chief Minister’s announcements represent a step in the direction of expanding the state’s transportation network, which is essential to the state’s economic growth.
