Saurabh Bharadwaj, the minister for Delhi’s urban development, criticized the urban shelter improvement board for the recent demolition of eight homeless people’s night shelters, calling it “inhumane” and done without government approval. The minister asked who from the Delhi government provided the order and if it was written or verbal in a letter to the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) on Thursday in response to its director’s reported statement that the demolition was done at the government’s direction. “I have learned through the media that on the night of 10/03/2023, eight homeless night shelters at Jawahar Shramik Sthal, Yamuna Pushta near KG (Kashmere Gate) ISBT were destroyed in the area.
