Siliguri, Jan 11: Siliguri police foiled a major robbery attempt, arresting four criminals before they could execute their plan. The arrested persons have been identified as Niki Das, Mustak Mia, Totan Mandal and Bubai Das.
According to police sources, a gang of 10-12 criminals had gathered near the Indoor Stadium in Deshbandhu Para area late last night, planning to carry out a major heist in the area. Acting on intelligence inputs, the police launched an operation in which their robbery plan was successfully foiled. However, several criminals managed to escape from the spot while four were nabbed by the police.
The arrested suspects were produced in Siliguri Court on Saturday and the police have launched a search for the remaining members of the gang.
