Recently The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has intensified its ongoing drive against encroachments. In a recent operation, the SMC actually demolished illegal constructions, including a structure built above a mall located on Sevoke Road under the jurisdiction of the Bhakti Nagar Police Station. Actually the SMC has been actively working to clear public roads and pathways from encroachments. Reportedly, the unauthorized construction on top of a mall was actually carried out without obtaining the necessary building plans. In fact upon receiving the information, the SMC workers initiated a demolition drive and dismantled the structure.
Right now population of Siliguri is increasing very fast and with it many construction is going on. In fact it is very important to control unauthorized construction for safety of people.
