Rapido rides into all districts of West Bengal with 15-city expansion push

Rapido, India’s leading ride-sharing platform, has expanded its services across West Bengal by launching operations in 15 new cities, including Kharagpur, Malda, Murshidabad, and Bardhaman. With this, Rapido now covers every district in the state, offering its popular Bike Taxi and Auto services for first and last-mile connectivity. The move aligns with the company’s vision to scale up to 500 cities nationwide.

Currently facilitating over 4 million rides daily, Rapido has created more than 9 million jobs across India. The latest expansion is expected to generate 1 lakh new employment opportunities, enabling flexible earnings and economic independence for local youth. The company aims to foster micro-entrepreneurship by onboarding thousands of new captains across the newly added cities.

Where daily commuters often struggle with inadequate public transport, Rapido’s entry is being seen as a game-changer. The industrial town, home to major institutions and a bustling student population, is likely to benefit from faster, affordable, app-based mobility—especially for travel between campuses, markets, and railway links. Rapido Co-founder Pavan Guntupalli emphasized the dual mission of enhancing urban mobility and creating livelihood opportunities, while assuring close collaboration with local authorities to ensure safe and reliable services.
