Rangapani train accident: Confusion over ‘false complaints’ against dead goods train loco pilot

Siliguri, June 19: In a shocking development after the Rangapani train accident, allegations of false complaints against the deceased loco pilot of the goods train have emerged, raising serious questions on the role of the Railways and the Government Railway Police (GRP). , ,

Reportedly, a passenger, Chaitali Majumdar, a resident of Laketown, Siliguri, had reportedly filed a complaint against the driver and co-driver of the goods train involved in the accident. However, Majumdar has claimed that he never filed such a complaint. According to her statement, when she was hospitalized after getting injured in the incident, she was asked to sign on a blank paper. Later she learned that a complaint had been filed in her name.

Majumdar’s father supported his claims and raised questions as to why he would file a complaint against the driver and co-driver, whom he did not know.

This has raised doubts regarding the integrity of the investigation, especially given that a failure of the signaling system is suspected to have caused the accident.
