PM Narendra Modi congratulates NDA workers on Goa Zilla Panchayat poll victory

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) workers were praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for breaking their previous record of 20 seats in the 2022 assembly elections and winning significant victories in the zilla panchayat elections. As of 7 PM, the Bharatiya Janata Party, in partnership with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, had won 30 seats in the 50-member Zilla panchayat body, while the Congress had won nine and the Goa Forward Party, Aam Aadmi Party, and Revolutionary Goans Party each had won one. PM Modi expressed gratitude to the state’s citizens for “blessing” the NDA alliance with such robust support, stating that the party is dedicated to advancing the hopes and desires of the populace.

The chief minister of Goa also praised the NDA’s victory and thanked party leaders and employees for their dedication to people-centered governance and grassroots empowerment. On December 20, polling for the 50-member local body’s zilla panchayat elections began at 8 AM. The SEC set up over 1,284 polling places, 658 in North Goa and 626 in South Goa, to ensure a smooth election process. In contrast to other elections, ballot sheets were being used for polling instead of electronic voting machines.
