Plane crashes in Kathmandu; all passengers died; pilot hospitalized in critical condition

Another plane crash incident in Nepal. A Surya Airlines flight met with an accident shortly after take-off from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Wednesday. The plane, which had taken off with a total of 19 people, including crew and passengers, caught fire. The plane was covered in black smoke. Airport staff and security guards rushed in. Rescue work started immediately. Airport services have been suspended for the time being.

The weather was bad when the flight took off on Wednesday morning. The passenger plane caught fire shortly after takeoff. TIA spokesperson Premnath Tagore said that the accident took place around 11 a.m. Rescue work started immediately. It was possible to rescue several people in the plane. The pilot was also rescued. They were taken to a local hospital. Firefighters and police are continuing to rescue operations.

It is known that pilot Manish Shakya was rescued in critical condition. He was taken to a hospital in Shinamangal. According to various sources, at least 13 passengers have died. Their bodies have been recovered.

The plane skidded off the runway, the South Asia Times reported. That is the problem. At last count, 18 of the 19 passengers died.
