The Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) convened on December 3, chaired by Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, with participation from Union MoS Sukanta Majumdar. Scindia emphasized the significance of the meetings in facilitating dialogue on investment and development in the North Eastern States, expressing gratitude for the committee members’ contributions. He highlighted the PM-DevINE (Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region) scheme, launched during the Union Budget 2022-2023, which has an allocation of Rs. 6600 crores for 2022-2023 to 2025-2026.
By October 31, 2025, 44 projects totaling approximately Rs 5,700 crore have received sanction, with three projects completed and 41 ongoing, alongside Rs 111 crore in approved projects and Rs 625 crore in the pipeline, indicating optimal utilization of the allotted budget. Detailed discussions covered projects in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Tripura, with specific attention to tourism development in Tripura, where world-class tourist circuits are planned at key locations in collaboration with state governments, starting with pilot projects in Meghalaya and Tripura. Scindia affirmed the rigorous monitoring of PM-DevINE projects through weekly reviews, physical progress assessments, and on-ground inspections to ensure accountability and traceability. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to rapid, transparent, outcome-oriented development in the region, positioning PM-DevINE as a cornerstone for infrastructural and socio-economic advancement.
