Oxford University Press (OUP) conducted a teacher training workshop in Siliguri, aiming to enhance English teaching skills in line with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF-SE 2023). Led by English Language Teaching (ELT) expert Ms. Deepa Nair, the event focused on equipping educators with innovative methods for competency-based learning.

Ms. Nair highlighted the NCF’s holistic approach, which integrates cognitive, emotional, and social growth, preparing students for real-world challenges. “Our workshop emphasized inclusive classrooms, project-based learning, and culturally responsive teaching, aligning with 21st-century skills,” she stated. The workshop also introduced strategies to leverage students’ cultural and linguistic strengths while improving language proficiency.

Siliguri reflects a growing demand for modern educational practices and resources. Local educators appreciated OUP’s new textbook editions, including Mulberry and Oxford Learners Grammar & Composition, which blend traditional and digital methods to meet evolving educational needs. These initiatives align with the city’s aspirations to enhance English proficiency among students, positioning Siliguri as a key player in education reform in Eastern India. Mohd. Sajid, Regional Sales Head (East), emphasized the transformative power of English in creating global opportunities, reaffirming OUP’s commitment to empowering educators with impactful tools and training.
