ONGC has taken immediate action to prevent oil spills

ONGC has taken immediate action to prevent an oil spillage in Kharaghar, Sivasagar District, Assam. On July 8, 2023, a pipeline leak occurred, prompting a response from Assam Asset. The affected line was isolated as a precautionary measure and connected wells were closed. ONGC’s actions were taken to protect the area from future spills.

ONGC, a socially responsible corporate, prioritizes safety in its operations and has a strong safety culture that prioritizes people’s well-being over financial gains. The corporation has taken considerable precautions to keep inhabitants in operations regions safe from any accidents or incidents.

The pipeline causing the leak is being replaced, with 6 km of the Charali- Changmaigaon corridor being laid down. The remaining 1.5 segments just received Right of Use (RoU), and work is underway to lay down a new pipeline for replacement within the time frame specified. ONGC remains dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards in order to prevent repeat accidents.
