Indian mobility giant Ola has partnered with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to offer food delivery services, marking its fourth foray into food delivery. Ola is testing the feature within its ride-hailing app, with some users already experiencing it.
Although the service is currently available to a limited number of users, it is expected to compete with established players like Swiggy and others. Ola has earlier ventured into food delivery, focusing on integrating its cloud kitchen business with 10-minute grocery delivery in 2022.
This time, in collaboration with Ola, ONDC, a government-backed initiative, aims to provide a seamless food delivery experience without launching a separate app. ONDC is working to integrate various transport modes, including ride-hailing, for the convenience of customers.
The move is in line with Ola’s broader strategy to expand its service offerings and compete in India’s fast-growing online food delivery market.
