New Delhi Demands Enhanced Protection for Missions in Dhaka Following Extremist Threats

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has summoned the Bangladesh High Commissioner to express “serious concerns” regarding the safety of Indian diplomatic missions and personnel in Dhaka. This comes amid rising tensions and threats from extremist groups ahead of Bangladesh’s upcoming February 2026 elections. India has officially requested immediate and heightened security measures to ensure the integrity of its mission operations, which were recently partially suspended due to the volatile environment.
