Netflix Inc. is shutting down its DVD rental business, the company said in a blog post-Tuesday, ending the service that began nearly 25 years ago.
The streaming service said the DVD business has shrunk and that it will not be able to provide quality services. The company will send the last disc on September 29.
Netflix, which was established in the year 1997, launched a DVD rental service a year later and would ship them with a red envelope that customers could use to return the discs to the company.
