Nepal’s prime minister, Sushila Karki, appoints four new ministers

Sushila Karki, Nepal’s interim prime minister, named four ministers to her cabinet. At Shital Niwas, the nation’s president’s official house, Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel swore in the four new ministers. Anil Kumar Sinha, a former judge, was selected by the acting prime minister and given the responsibilities of three ministries: the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supply; the Ministry of Law and Justice; and the Ministry of Land Reforms, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation.

The laureate of the Magsaysay award, Mahabir Pun, has been named the minister of science and technology and education. Pun has long been involved in Nepal’s scientific and research advancements. At the moment, he is in charge of the National Innovation Center. Agriculture Minister Madan Prasad Pariyar has been appointed. Pariyar, a senior climate and agriculture specialist, is president of the Samata Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes inclusivity and social justice. In the past, he oversaw the Constituent Assembly’s high-level state reorganization panel.

The information and communications minister is replaced by media expert Jagdish Kharel, editor of Image Channels. The Karki cabinet now consists of three ministers: Om Prakash Aryal (home affairs), Kulman Ghising (energy, water resources, and irrigation), and Rameshore Khanal (finance).
