Nayanthara, who plays Shah Rukh Khan’s love interest in director Atlee’s Jawan, is said to be upset with the “treatment” of her role in the movie. Jawaan, featuring SRK in a dual role, entered the Rs 900 crore club worldwide in 13 days. But it seems that Nayantara is not too happy about her Bollywood debut.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the actress-producer is in no mood to take up any more Bollywood projects anytime soon. “she was very upset with Atlee because her role in the film was cut. Also, Deepika’s (Padukone) character was enhanced and Nayantara’s part was significantly sidelined,” a source informed.
Deepika Padukone, who has previously worked with SRK in many films, had an extended cameo in Jawan, but her role was much appreciated by the audience. “It wasn’t a cameo at all. Jawan was made to look almost like an SRK-Deepika film. Nayanthara is a leading actress from the South, and hence, she was not happy with Jawan’s treatment,” the source added, “and that can never be a good reason why we may not see her in any Bollywood project, at least not anytime soon.”
Notably, Nayanthara was absent from all the promotional events of Jawan. She even skipped the recent success meeting held in Mumbai last week. The event was attended by SRK, Deepika, Vijay Sethupathi, Atlee, Anirudh Ravichander, Sania Malhotra and Ridhi Dogra.
The source, however, clarified: “Nayanthara never goes to film events. She follows a no promotion policy for her films because of her bad experiences in the past when she was misquoted and because she feels that her job is to act and not engage in promotional activities.”
