Mumbai Indians Women appoint two-time World Cup winner Lisa Keightley as head coach

Lisa Keightley, a former Australian cricket player and two-time World Cup champion, was named the Mumbai Indians’ head coach for the upcoming Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. Keightley is well-known as a women’s cricket coach and was a member of Australia’s World Cup-winning squads in 1997 and 2005. She brings to the Mumbai Indians great experience and insight from her playing and coaching career in Australia, England, and some of the best international competitions.

Under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, the Mumbai Indians Women have already won two titles in just three seasons, making them the most successful team in WPL history. They took home the trophy in 2025 after defeating the Delhi Capitals in a rematch of the 2023 final, which they had won in the first edition in 2023. But after their successful 2025 season, MI was looking for a new head coach when Charlotte Edwards was appointed to the position for the England national team.
