MSDE launches special initiative for North-East Region, targeting 2.5 lakh candidates with a financial allocation of 360 crores

To create a robust skill-centric and industry-ready ecosystem in North-Eastern Region, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism & Development of North Eastern Region, have launched a special initiative called “Transforming Lives, Building Futures: Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in North-East.”

The initiative will provide 2.5 lahks talented youth with industry-relevant skill training programs through various schemes, including PMKVY, NAPS, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS). The government has earmarked a substantial fund of 360 crores to facilitate inclusive development, nurture entrepreneurial talent, and propel socio-economic growth in the region.

The initiative includes 2 lakh skill training under PMKVY, 30,000 apprenticeship engagement under NAPS, 20,000 skilled under JSS, quality enhancement of ITIs under STRIVE, strengthening of polytechnics, special projects for the North-East region under SANKALP, and a Skill India International Centre to promote overseas job opportunities. Speaking on the Occasion, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister for Education and Skill Development and Skill Development said, “We are shaping a future where NER’s youth are equipped to thrive. The inauguration of these skill-centric initiatives, as part of the special package for the NER, is destined to be a transformative and life-altering endeavour”.
