Money Will Come”: How Esther Anil’s Parents Powered Her Journey to LSE

Actor Esther Anil, renowned for her performance in the film Drishyam (2013) in Malayalam cinema, has successfully graduated with a degree in International Development from the London School of Economics (LSE). In a heartfelt Instagram post, she reflected on the challenges that both she and her family faced during this journey, accompanied by photos from her graduation ceremony.

Esther reflects on her journey, recounting how her father’s suggestion to apply to the London School of Economics (LSE) seemed unrealistic to her at first. He had mentioned a person who studied there, and she initially dismissed it as an unattainable goal. However, she now stands proudly as a graduate in International Development from LSE, expressing her belief in the magic of life and the fulfillment of her father’s dreams.

Esther initially kept her admission to the London School of Economics (LSE) a secret from her parents, understanding that they could not afford the tuition fees, particularly since both her brothers were already on student loans. Despite her concerns about financial constraints, her parents encouraged her to attend LSE. In her reflections, Esther expresses gratitude towards her parents for instilling in her the ability to dream.

Esther reflects on her experience at LSE, expressing feelings of failure despite being admitted to a prestigious institution. She notes that the most challenging aspect was not the admission itself, but rather the competition with exceptional peers and her own feelings of imposter syndrome. This experience presented challenges beyond her expectations.

Esther concluded her note by reflecting on her academic achievements, specifically mentioning her thesis on women and power, for which she received a distinction from the LSE. She expressed a sense of hope and ambition, contemplating her potential to join the ranks of powerful women. In response to her post, Nazriya Nazim Fahadh expressed her affection with a comment, and several other peers, including Aparna Balamurali, Gouri G Kishan, and Khatija Rahman, offered their congratulations.

Esther began her acting career as a child artist at the age of 9 with the 2010 Malayalam film Nallavan. She gained prominence for her role as Anumol George (Anu), the younger daughter of George Kutty, played by Mohanlal, in the Drishyam films. Esther reprised this role in both the Telugu and Tamil remakes, Drushyam and Papanasanam. She took on her first lead role in the 2020 Telugu film Johaar. Most recently, she appeared in Shanthamee Rathriyil and is set to star in Drishyam 3.
