Modest Boost to Avoid Oversupply Amid Weakening Demand

OPEC+ members have agreed to incrementally raise oil production by 137,000 barrels per day from November 2025, continuing the cautious approach seen in October.

This modest increase reflects concerns about a global demand slump and the risk of a supply glut in late 2025 and early 2026.

Although OPEC+ has lifted output by 2.7 million bpd this year, the alliance is keen to avoid price crashes. Internal divisions were evident: while Russia favored smaller steps (due to sanctions constraints), Saudi Arabia pushed for a more aggressive expansion.

The move is seen as a delicate balance—to support member nations’ revenues without destabilizing oil prices further. Analysts expect slight upward pressure on prices, but only if demand holds.
