MIT Rolls Out National Manufacturing Innovation Initiative

MIT has officially launched its Initiative for New Manufacturing (INM)—a program designed to transform global manufacturing using cutting-edge technologies like AI, robotics, and advanced materials. The initiative will foster collaboration across universities, startups, and industry, and scale up education programs from vocational training to executive leadership. MIT aims to rejuvenate U.S. manufacturing capabilities that have declined over past decades.

South Asia’s manufacturing hubs—such as Bengaluru, Dhaka, and Kathmandu—are taking note, exploring partnerships and curriculum models to build tech-driven production ecosystems.
