Medica North Bengal Clinic, a unit of the Manipal Hospitals Group, observed World Environment Day 2025 by launching a green initiative aimed at fostering environmental sustainability and community participation. Held at Pradhan Nagar (MHSG Ward) in the presence of Ward Councillor Smt. Gargi Chatterjee, the event featured a tree plantation drive and sapling distribution to 25 neighbouring shops—emphasizing the role of local businesses in sustainable development.
Hospital Director Sanjay Singha Mahapatra underscored the clinic’s commitment to environmental health, stating, “We believe health and the environment are deeply connected. A cleaner, greener world directly impacts community well-being and the quality of life for future generations.”
The initiative comes at a time when businesses across India are increasingly being held accountable for their environmental footprint. Medica’s effort highlights the growing trend of corporate social responsibility (CSR) extending beyond philanthropy to ecological action. In Siliguri, traders welcomed the campaign, noting that improving greenery around commercial zones enhances customer experience and contributes to long-term economic vitality. With increasing footfall and pollution levels, such green actions are seen as essential for sustaining the city’s retail and health infrastructure.
