Medica Hospital, Siliguri marks Women’s Day with grand celebration

Medica North Bengal Clinic and Medica Cancer Hospital, part of the Manipal Hospitals Group, celebrated International Women’s Day with a tribute to women from various fields, recognizing their achievements and contributions to society. The event commenced with a one-minute silence in memory of Late Bharati Ghosh, the region’s first eminent table tennis coach. Chief Guest Gargi Chatterjee, Councillor of Ward-2 (Pradhan Nagar), along with IC Basudev Sarkar, inaugurated the program. The celebrations featured insightful discussions, expert-led sessions, and a felicitation ceremony honoring women achievers.

Healthcare professionals, law enforcement officials, educators, media representatives, and social workers were recognized, including doctors from Medica North Bengal Clinic and Medica Cancer Hospital. A special session on ‘Women’s Health Diet’ by Ms. Anita Sah emphasized balanced nutrition for women. Additionally, a panel discussion on ‘Gynaecological Health’ with Dr. Nishana Paul and Dr. Biswajit Dey highlighted breast and cervical cancer awareness.

Women from diverse sectors were felicitated, including social worker Muniya Sarkar, police officer Mithu Kabiraj, journalist Tamalika Dey, entrepreneur Tania, and yoga instructor Madhumanti Kar, among others. Speaking at the event, Hospital Director Sanjay Singha Mahapatra stated, “Women’s health is fundamental to society’s progress. We remain committed to empowering them through awareness initiatives and healthcare support.”
