Medanta’s “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign highlights policy priorities in cancer awareness and early detection

Medanta – The Medicity, named India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six consecutive years, has launched a year-long “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign aimed at raising awareness and promoting proactive measures against cancer. The initiative begins with a focus on Breast Cancer, which accounts for one in four cancers in women worldwide, emphasizing early detection as a critical public health and economic priority.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India recorded over 14 lakh cancer cases in 2023, highlighting the need for interventions that reduce long-term healthcare costs and enhance system efficiency. Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, stressed, “Evidence-based, accessible, and humane care is vital to mitigate the social and economic burden of cancer. Medanta combines advanced technology and research to improve patient outcomes at all stages.” The campaign introduces “Aao Dekho Seekho” kiosks to educate women on proper self-breast examination techniques, aiming to reduce late-stage diagnoses and healthcare expenditure.

The campaign is expected to positively influence the healthcare market by promoting preventive care and early screening adoption. Local hospitals and wellness centers are anticipated to collaborate with Medanta’s outreach programs, supporting regional policy objectives on reducing cancer incidence and improving public health infrastructure. The campaign will expand to other major cancers and is supported by a Northeast Helpline available in Assamese, Nagamese, English, and Hindi, with plans to include Bengali and Mizo.
