Maruti Suzuki has announced a major step toward building a unified EV charging ecosystem in India by signing collaboration agreements with 13 leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs). The new platform will allow EV owners to access home and public charging, discover charging locations and make seamless digital payments — all through a single application.
The gateway city to the Northeast, the initiative is expected to significantly strengthen long-distance EV travel. With rising EV adoption among urban commuters and inter-state travellers moving through the Siliguri Corridor, the availability of new fast-charging points will improve reliability along national highways leading to Assam, Sikkim and the Dooars region.
Maruti Suzuki also showcased the e VITARA during its pan-India ‘e drive’, which includes a route toward Dibrugarh demonstrating the feasibility of EV driving across varying terrains and weather conditions. The e VITARA, tested from 60°C to –30°C, delivers a certified driving range of 543 km. The company’s ‘e for me’ app will allow Siliguri users to locate chargers, manage home charging and use tap-and-charge functionality at Maruti Suzuki dealerships, making EV ownership easier for the region.
