In a tribute to the artisans of Kumartuli, the creators behind Bengal’s iconic MaaDurga idols, Manipal Hospitals Siliguri and Rangapani announced a comprehensive healthcare initiative to support the craftsmen throughout the year. At a special ceremony, senior doctors and hospital leadership, including Dr. Sinthi Pal, Dr. Sourav Guha, Dr. Anirban Nag, and Dr. Rajesh Agarwal, handed over 15 Privilege Health Cards to artisans, ensuring priority consultations, outpatient discounts, and inpatient benefits.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with Resident Welfare Associations and the Idol Makers’ Association, will provide 25% off on outpatient services and radiology/laboratory tests, 15% off inpatient care, and free health camps every three months covering cardiology, orthopaedics, pulmonology, and ophthalmology. Complementary ambulance services will also be extended for emergencies. Hospital Director Mr. Sanjay Singha Mahapatra emphasized, “As the artisans bring MaaDurga to life, we pledge to safeguard their health with the same dedication.”
In Siliguri, the move is expected to resonate strongly with the city’s cultural and artisan community, enhancing local trust in Manipal Hospitals. It also aligns with Siliguri’s growing focus on socially responsible healthcare initiatives, making advanced medical services more accessible to craftspeople who contribute significantly to Bengal’s cultural economy. With over 7,200 doctors and 38 hospitals nationwide, Manipal Hospitals continues to integrate healthcare with cultural stewardship, reinforcing its commitment to both community wellbeing and heritage preservation.
