In observance of National Cancer Awareness Day, Manipal Hospital, Rangapani launched a community-focused program aimed at educating the public on cancer prevention, early detection, and modern treatment options. The initiative featured interactive sessions with oncology experts, aiming to dispel myths, reduce fear, and encourage timely medical check-ups. Dr. Anirban Nag, Consultant, Surgical Oncology, emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, noting that “simple annual screenings and attention to symptoms can save lives. Awareness is not just medical knowledge; it’s empowerment.” Dr. SouravGuha, Consultant, Radiation Oncology, highlighted advances in precision cancer treatment, while Dr. ChinnuJomi, Consultant, Medical Oncology, stressed the significance of emotional support, counselling, and continuous monitoring for patients and families.
A highlight of the event was the inspiring presence of 90-year-old cancer survivor Mrs. Moti Tamang, whose recovery story resonated deeply with attendees. Her daughter praised the hospital’s care, noting that patients from North Bengal, Sikkim, and Nepal trust Manipal Hospital for high-quality cancer treatment. In Siliguri, the initiative reinforces the growing awareness and demand for specialized healthcare services in the region.
