Siliguri, Nov 28: A man has recently been arrested in the ongoing investigation of the tab scam. The arrested person has been identified as Manoj Chowdhury, who has been arrested by the Siliguri Cyber Crime Police from Baisanbanagar area of Malda.
According to police sources, Manoj Chowdhury was operating a customer service point (CSP) in Malda. He is alleged to have been involved in the scam under the guise of working at the CSP. Chowdhury is accused of siphoning off the money meant for purchasing tablets for 40 students in Siliguri. After investigation, the cyber crime team reached Baisanbanagar, where Chowdhury was arrested.
The scam came to light when several students in Siliguri reported that the money for their tablets had gone missing. Manoj Chowdhury was produced before a court in Siliguri on Thursday.
