Mahindra Aerostructures Wins Airbus Contract

Mahindra Aerostructures (MASPL) announced on Thursday that it has secured a contract from Airbus to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of the H125, a light single-engine helicopter, in India. The production will take place at MASPL’s facility in Bengaluru, with industrialisation starting immediately and the first fuselage delivery expected in 2027.

Mahindra Group CEO and MD Anish Shah expressed pride in the collaboration, stating that the agreement reinforces Mahindra’s long-standing partnership with Airbus and its commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The H125 is the world’s top-selling single-engine helicopter, known for its performance, adaptability, and cost-effectiveness. It is widely used in passenger transport, tourism, law enforcement, medical evacuation, and rescue missions.

Earlier this year, Airbus also awarded MASPL a contract to produce the fuselage for its H130 helicopter. Airbus noted that both contracts significantly integrate India into its global value chain. Jürgen Westermeier, Airbus India & South Asia MD, highlighted the importance of this partnership in building a strong aerospace ecosystem in India. Airbus’ annual sourcing from India currently stands at $1.4 billion. Financial terms of the latest deal were not disclosed.
