Pernod Ricard India has expanded its premium whisky portfolio with the launch of its award-winning Indian single malt, Longitude 77, in Kolkata. The unveiling was held at ITC Sonar, positioning the city as a key market in the brand’s India growth strategy.
Globally recognised, Longitude 77 has secured Gold medals at the London Spirits Competition, The Global Spirit Masters by The Spirits Business and Monde Selection, along with a Bronze at The International Wine & Spirits Competition. Crafted by master whisky makers associated with global brands such as Chivas, Glenlivet and Jameson, the single malt draws on over two centuries of whisky-making heritage.
Renowned whisky expert Jim Murray lauded the whisky for its clarity, balance and complexity, highlighting the role of maturation in the foothills of Nashik and India’s growing stature in the global whisky landscape.
Master Blender Mahesh Patil said the whisky reflects India’s terroir, using locally sourced ingredients and a double maturation process in American bourbon barrels and wine casks, followed by ageing in Dindori, Nashik. Named after the 77° East longitude, the whisky features notes of caramel, vanilla and peat smoke and is packaged in an indigo matte-finish box. Longitude 77 is now available across multiple Indian states, including West Bengal, as well as Dubai and select Mumbai and Delhi duty-free outlets, reinforcing Pernod Ricard India’s focus on premiumisation.
