As the festivals draws near, sellers on the Local Shops program are gearing up to delight customers with a wide array of festive products Last year, over 3000 orders of pooja essentials, groceries, and fresh flowers were processed by over 300 sellers.
This year, nearly 4700 sellers are offering around 60K unique festive-themed products across India. Customers in West Bengal can enjoy same-day delivery from local stores for a festive celebration.The ‘Local Shops on Amazon’ program, launched in April 2020, has helped sellers in West Bengaland grow and sustain their businesses by reaching customers beyond their immediate catchment. The program is gaining momentum across various categories, including home furnishing, kitchen, apparel, health care, furniture, and computers.
For an instance Amit Paul, the second-generation owner of ‘Oishani Saree Ghor’ in Phulia, West Bengal, has digitized their business by partnering with Amazon.in and joining Local Shops in August 2023. Abhishek Jain, Head, Local Shops at Amazon India said, “With Local Shops on Amazon, our focus is to bring more offline retailers online, accelerating their business by providing them access to a larger customer base, and providing them impetus to create strong brands.”
