In preparation for the upcoming International Day of Sign Languages, KFC India is utilizing its most iconic symbol, the legendary bucket, to promote awareness of Indian Sign Language (ISL). The specially crafted Sign Language Bucket showcases step-by-step visual tutorials for commonly used words and phrases, offering consumers an opportunity to acquire proficiency in ISL. The bucket prominently features expressions such as ‘Hello,’ ‘Please,’ ‘Good Morning,’ ‘How are you,’ ‘Have a good day,’ ‘Lol,’ ‘What’s up?’ along with numbers and sizes. These specially designed Sign Language Buckets will be accessible at all KFC outlets throughout India this week.
The Sign Language Bucket and the #SpeakSign campaign are integral components of KFC India’s Kshamata initiative, which seeks to nourish people’s potential while closing gender and ability disparities. Through the Kshamata program, KFC India is dedicated to empowering women and individuals with speech and hearing impairments within their restaurant workforce.
Chief Marketing Officer of KFC India & Partner Countries, Aparna Bhawal remarked, “Through KFC Kshamata and our #SpeakSign campaign, we are committed to promoting inclusivity for the hearing and speech impaired. This year, in anticipation of the International Day of Sign Languages, we challenged ourselves to bring Sign Language to the forefront for consumers. Thus, we integrated Sign Language into our most significant and recognizable brand symbol—the bucket.”
Furthermore, a special Sign Language Menu is being introduced in select KFC restaurants staffed by employees with speech and hearing impairments. This offers customers an opportunity to learn how to sign their preferred items from the KFC menu.
