Kenya’s Nairobi to Host World’s Largest E-Waste Recycling Park

Kenya has unveiled plans to build the world’s largest e-waste recycling park in Nairobi by 2027, with funding support from the European Union and UNEP. The facility will process over 500,000 tonnes of discarded electronics annually.

With rising mobile and gadget use across Africa, e-waste pollution has become a pressing issue. The Nairobi park will employ over 3,000 workers and will serve as a model for circular economy efforts globally.

Waste management experts from Kolkata, Dhaka, and Kathmandu have expressed interest in replicating parts of the model to manage growing urban e-waste loads.
