On Sunday night, plainclothes cops from Pradhan Nagar police station in Siliguri’s Mallaguri locality caught a guy from Jharkhand in possession of an automatic weapon and a live bullet.
The culprit has been identified as Dheeraj Kumar, a citizen of Jharkhand. Police detained him after receiving a tip and seeing he was moving suspiciously in the neighborhood with a firearm in his possession. He was found to be in possession of an automatic weapon and one live round.
Police assume that the accused came to Siliguri with the intention of committing a massive heist or snatching. He was brought before Siliguri court on Monday, and an inquiry into the case is ongoing.
