Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary has unveiled a visionary blueprint to transform India’s skill development landscape. Following an immersive review of the Directorate General of Training (DGT) and its educational arms, including Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and National Skill Training Institutes (NSTIs), Chaudhary aims to propel these institutions into the forefront of global skill education.
Under Chaudhary’s leadership, the DGT has expanded significantly, adding over 5000 institutions in the past decade. However, recognizing the need for modernization, the minister advocates for a shift towards blended learning approaches at ITIs and NSTIs. His vision emphasizes stronger collaborations with industry through flexible Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and the adoption of a Dual System of Training, aiming to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.
Chaudhary champions the role of ITIs and NSTIs in nurturing a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among India’s youth. He calls for upgrades in infrastructure, curriculum, and training methodologies to align with emerging sectors and enhance job readiness. With a focus on digital integration via the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), Chaudhary aims to revolutionize training delivery, ensuring accessibility and quality across the nation.
