Japan Launches World’s Fastest Magnetic-Levitation Train Test

Japan’s Central Japan Railway Company has successfully completed its latest test of the SCMaglev (Superconducting Magnetic Levitation) train, which hit 603 km/h—setting a new world speed record for rail vehicles.

The trial took place on a dedicated track in Yamanashi. Engineers say the new generation of maglev trains could reduce travel time between Tokyo and Osaka to just over one hour, compared to over 2.5 hours by the Shinkansen.

The development has sparked interest in India and Bangladesh, both of which are exploring high-speed rail infrastructure. Experts believe collaboration with Japanese engineers could bring similar technology to South Asia.
