Indian Naval Ship, INS Kiltan arrived at Chittagong on Monday for a three-day goodwill visit as part of the ongoing close cooperation between the both Navy. Commanding officers from both sides also engaged in discussions of mutual interest across maritime cooperation and security.
The Indian High Commission in Dhaka tweeted, “Indian Naval Ship Kiltan, commanded by Cdr Arjit Pande arrived in Chattogram for a three day visit as part of the ongoing close cooperation between Indian and Bangladesh Navies. The ship was given a warm welcome by Bangladesh Navy.”
INS Kiltan is the third ship of P28 class Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) corvettes built in Kolkata. It is the Indian Navy’s largest corvette and was seen on Bangladesh waters in 2020 during Exercise Bongosagar. Naval cooperation between India and Bangladesh is an important pillar of bilateral defense cooperation. Regular exchange of ship visits has strengthened mutual trust and understanding. This year, two Indian coast guard ships, ICGS Shaurya, and ICGS Rajveer, visited Chittagong for a six-day visit. India has also approved six agreements aimed at fostering marine cooperation, such as MoUs related to navigational cooperation, joint patrols, and counterterrorism training.
