Indian Consumers Bullish and Excited for Online Festive Shopping, Prefers Amazon India

A study by Nielsen Media India, on behalf of Amazon India, has found that Indian consumers are bullish and excited for online festive shopping this year. 81% of consumers indicated strong sentiment and intent to shop online during the festive season, with 78% trusting online shopping and 1 in 2 intending to increase online spending compared to last year.Consumers expect a wide selection, unmatched value with competitive pricing, and the convenience of easy returns and exchange, which are driving the core online shopping experience. Amazon.in is the go-to and convenient online shopping destination for 68% of consumers, with almost half identifying it as the most trusted and loved online brand for festive shopping.

The study also revealed that: (i) 87% of consumers in metros and 86% in tier-2 cities prefer to shop online during the festive season. (ii) More than 70% of consumers wait for online festive shopping events to purchase electronic items, driven by attractive offers and new brand launches. (iii) Over 75% of consumers are excited about attractive bank offers and No-Cost EMIs for making their purchases more convenient and rewarding. (iv) Amazon.in is the most preferred online brand for consumers to shop this festive season across Large Appliances, Mobiles/ Smartphones, Consumer Electronics, Apparel, Footwear & Fashion Accessories, Beauty, and Grocery.

(v) Digital payment methods are on the rise, with 42% of respondents choosing UPI for online festive shopping and 57% indicating that UPI is their preferred digital payment method for earning rewards and cashback during the festive season.Overall, the study shows that Indian consumers are confident and excited about online festive shopping this year. Amazon.in is the most preferred online shopping destination for consumers across a wide range of categories, and digital payment methods are gaining popularity.
