Following the successful completion of “Operation Sindoor,” government sources suggest that India’s military budget will likely increase by Rs 50,000 crore, which would significantly boost the country’s defense readiness. Citing government sources, the extra money is anticipated to be provided through a supplemental budget later this year, which could cause the overall defense expenditure to surpass Rs 7 lakh crore for the first time.
This amount represented a noteworthy 9.2% increase over the Rs 6.22 lakh crore recorded the year before. The government’s strategic focus on national security and military modernization would be further highlighted if the additional funding is authorized. According to sources, the additional funding will go toward important projects, including R&D, buying cutting-edge weapons, restocking ammo supplies, and acquiring cutting-edge military equipment.
During the winter session, the plan is probably going to be presented for parliamentary approval. Defense spending has increased dramatically since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office in 2014. The current budget, which makes up 13% of the national budget, not only far exceeds that amount but also has the greatest allocation of any ministry.
