ICICI Bank, in partnership with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), has announced the commencement of construction for a state-of-the-art cancer care block at the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (HBCHRC) in Visakhapatnam. With an allocation of over ₹550 crore, this initiative is part of the Bank’s expanded ₹1,800 crore CSR commitment to TMC to bolster cancer care infrastructure nationwide.
The new ICICI Foundation Block for Child and Blood Cancer will span 3.9 lakh sq ft and include more than 215 beds. Designed to treat 3,000 patients annually, the facility will feature advanced oncology technologies such as CAR-T cell therapy, 14 bone marrow transplant rooms, three LINACs, and modern diagnostic and surgical infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed by 2027.
Industry observers have welcomed the development, noting its potential to influence similar healthcare infrastructure investments in North Bengal. Emerging as a regional medical hub, stakeholders see this model as an opportunity to attract CSR-backed expansions to meet rising demand for advanced cancer care services. ICICI Bank reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery through impactful, scalable partnerships.
