Honda scales up road safety outreach in Cooch Behar, engages 2,400 students with new learning tools

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) expanded its nationwide road safety mission with a large-scale awareness campaign at Jenkins School and Vivekananda Vidyapeeth (V.V.H.S) in Cooch Behar, engaging more than 2,400 students. The initiative aimed to build long-term behavioural change among young learners by promoting responsible road habits such as wearing helmets, using pedestrian crossings and avoiding distractions. Interactive demonstrations, real-life scenarios and Honda’s skilled instructors helped translate safety awareness into practical understanding.

A key highlight was Honda’s scientifically designed learning modules, including theory sessions, virtual riding simulators exposing users to over 100 potential road dangers and KikenYosoku Training (KYT) to enhance danger prediction. Existing riders among staff and students also honed skills through slow riding and narrow-plank activities. HMSI further showcased its E-Gurukul digital platform, offering multilingual road safety content for children aged 5 to 18.

In Cooch Behar, where two-wheeler adoption has been steadily rising, local stakeholders see such initiatives as crucial. With increasing youth ridership, the campaign is expected to positively impact consumer behaviour, strengthen safety consciousness and contribute to a more responsible mobility ecosystem. The campaign aligns with Honda’s global 2050 vision of a collision-free society and India’s goal of halving road fatalities by 2030. HMSI continues to expand reach through Traffic Training Parks, Safety Driving Education Centers and on-ground activations, already touching over 10 million Indians.
