Britain is facing a growing shortage of teachers in key subjects, particularly mathematics, science, and English. A new report from the Department for Education shows that nearly one in five teaching positions remains vacant in secondary schools across England.
Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson admitted the shortage is a “serious challenge” and announced financial incentives for young graduates to take up teaching. Teacher unions, however, argue that the issue lies with low salaries and rising workloads. With the new academic year beginning in September, parents worry the shortage will directly affect classroom learning standards.
